Mother's Day

Usually I put only crochet related items on this blog, but had to make an exception for today. Ron is in Germany for 3 weeks so it is just the kids and I. Friday was also our anniversary and I received the roses then and the beautiful necklace today (Kelsey made the fabulous card!)...thanks guys...looks like I may renew your contract after all!

I'm on a Roll!

I finished and blocked my second "Sweet Pea" shawl for this week. With Ron in Germany for 3 weeks, I am getting in some late night crochet time. It is hard to really see the colors from this picture, but the yarn is varigated jewel tones including a deep green. Kelsey is wearing a bright red and it kind ogf masks the colors, but hey, I was happy to have a model!

I just finished the Sweet Pea Shawl from the SNB book! I love this pattern and am still deciding whether or not to add fringe. I may add some ribbon instead of yarn fringe...hmmm.

Sock Monkey!

I just finished a sock monkey hat. It is a strange looking little critter and I told a friend that I didn't want to leave it in my room because I think it would scare me at night.
My kids think it is the strangest thing they have ever seen.

Kittens!

This is a fabulous pattern called "Kittens in a Row" that I started on the trip we made to Oklahoma City. If you look closely you can see the little kitty ears and paws in the pattern. Unfortunately I wasn't much further than this when someone spilled coke all over it at a basketball game...not salvageable and I have not had the heart to start another. Since we are gearing up for lots of company during the wedding (and that florida clan will be cold up here!) I would like to have some nice fall afghans on hand so I am thinking of starting it again using fall colors.

Snowflakes

This snowflake pattern can be used to make potholders (2 squares sewn together) or to make an afghan. I have about 20 of them squirelled away and occasionally add another with the goal of having enough for a blanket for next winter. I forget to take pictures of most of the scarves I make over the winter months. These were special ordered by Kelsey to match specific outfits. The pattern is called the "doodlee dancer" by Candi Jensen. They were quick and easy to make!!

pillow and flower bouquet

A while back I made these for a good friend who was having surgery. I had never done a pillow before and really enjoyed making these and was pleased with the way they turned out! The pillow pattern is called the "Flower Garden Pillow" and can be found at http://www.freepatterns.com/list.html?cat_id=317 The back of the pillow is totally different than the front, but the flowers tie the colors together.

The roses are quick and easy to make and I used this pattern: http://megan.kiwi.gen.nz/StripMethodRose/ you have to page down to see the pattern, but it is there! Kelsey painted the pot for me and did a fantastic job!

Catching up!

Wow! I have got to be the world's worst blogger! my next few posts will need to be catching up on a few things I have been making lately. The first is the frog beanie. I made several of these and the picture is of my buddy Marcus who is posing with his beanie and showing off his amazing wood working skills. I am hoping to add to the frog album when people send me their pics! I have now made this hat in just about every color you can imagine!
